Michael brings 18 years of international financial markets experience to Sygnia Securities, with expertise spanning equity finance trading, securities lending, prime brokerage, and fixed income.

He started his career in London before returning to South Africa in 2014 to join Deutsche Bank, where he served for three years. In 2018, he joined Sygnia Securities to establish its Securities Lending division.

Michael is a registered JSE securities trader with the South African Institute of Financial Markets.

Joubert combines academic excellence with practical expertise, holding a BCom in Economic, Risk and Investment Management and an MCom in Risk Management. A member of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers, he joined Sygnia Securities in 2017 after beginning his career as a commodity broker and JSE trader. Joubert now leads our trading desk with precision and insight.

John has over 30 years’ experience on Equity trading desks and has worked as a Sales-Trader and Trader at Coronation Equities, RMB Morgan Stanley and Sinayo Securities prior to joining the Sygnia team. He has forged long term relationships with the local buy-side trading desks and brings valuable experience to the team.

Sazi is an agile, and assiduous professional. He is a Rhodes University alumnus and holds a BCom Honours degree in Economics. He has been with Sygnia Securities since December 2023 as an equity trader and applies his economics background to provide macro-level insights. He is responsible for communicating with market participants, client trading, analysis and reporting.

Tracy’s remarkable 34-year career in stockbroking has been integral to Sygnia Securities since our inception. Her comprehensive experience across bonds, money markets, securities lending, derivatives, and equities makes her invaluable as both our Settlement Officer and Chief Operating Officer since 2018. Tracy is also a qualified Strate compliance officer.

With over 28 years in the stockbroking environment, Wilmar’s deep knowledge of equities, derivatives, and fixed income markets ensures our unwavering compliance with industry regulations. A full member of the South African Institute of Financial Markets, he joined Sygnia in 2019 and continues to expand his expertise through stockbroker certification studies.

A UCT graduate with a BCom in Economics and Finance, Leveshen brings over 15 years of financial expertise to Sygnia. His journey from credit analyst to specialized securities lending trader culminated in joining our team in 2020, where he now leads our securities lending operations.

Paul Gomes has experience in both the finance and the asset management industry. He has held positions in both insurance (life and retirement funds) and Transition Management of equity-based portfolios. Has been Involved in various aspects of Sygnia Securities Lending over past 4 years, recently appointed as a trader on the Securities Lending Desk. Paul has a BCom (Economics & Taxation) as well an honours in Financial Planning Law CFP qualification.
